The Ministry of Health - The Gambia
Thursday 6th February 2020, the Hon. Minister of Health Dr. Ahmadou Lamin Samateh received new lifesaving medical equipment worth over $500,000.00 dollars the UNICEF Country Representative in The Gambia. In handing over the equipment to the Hon..Minister of Health, the UNICEF Country Representative Madam Sandra Lattpuf said the equipment will assist on the delivery quality services to improve the health of women and children especially Newborn babies.
The Chairperson of the National Assembly select Committee on health Hon. Ousman Sillah thanked UNICEF for complementing the efforts of Government in the provision of quality and affordable health care services for the population.
In receiving the items the Hon. Minister of Health Dr. Ahmadou Lamin Samateh expressed gratitude to UNICEF Country Office through the UNICEF Country Representative for supporting the health sector with new lifesaving equipment that will be distributed in health facilities across the country.
The Hon. Minister of Health assured the UNICEF Country Representative that a distribution plan will be available and that all the equipment will be labelled and tagged for easy identification. He also assured the UNICF Representative that a monitoring system will be in place to ensure that the materials are in places where they are supposed to be. He extended gratitude to UNICEF on behalf of the Government and people of The Gambia for the support to the health sector.

Acting Director of Health Services, Dr. Mustapha Bittaye and the
Director of National Pharmaceutical Services Mr Babanding Sabally.
The event was chaired by the Director of Health Promotion and Education, Mr Modou Njai.
